Modern aircraft thermal management systems demand innovative cooling solutions that surpass traditional fluid performance. This lecture examines how non-Newtonian nanofluids—specifically carbon nanotube suspensions in kerosene—revolutionize heat dissipation in aerospace applications. We analyze thermal transport and energy losses in a B-2 aircraft-shaped cavity geometry where nanofluid circulation manages internally generated heat through natural convection. The Casson model accurately characterizes the non-Newtonian flow behavior, while conservation laws govern mass, momentum, and energy transport. Numerical simulations employing finite element analysis solve the fully coupled nonlinear equations under steady operating conditions. We systematically evaluate the effects of Rayleigh number, heat generation intensity, and nanoparticle loading on circulation patterns, temperature fields, and irreversible entropy production. Results confirm that carbon nanotubes dramatically improve thermal conductivity and heat removal rates, while higher internal heat loads proportionally increase both thermal gradients and system irreversibility. These findings establish design principles for optimizing nanofluid-based thermal systems in aircraft-cavity applications with natural convection and distributed heat sources.
