报告内容摘要:
Aircraft wings are a compromise that allows the aircraft to fly at a range of flight conditions, but the performance at each condition is sub-optimal. Recently morphing aircraft have attracted considerable interest as it allows the aerodynamic potential of an aircraft wing to be explored and fully exploited, by adapting the wing shape for several flight conditions encountered in a typical mission profile, thus enabling better aerodynamic performance throughout the whole mission profile and increasing fuel efficiency. Moreover, the aero-elastic deformations can increase the performance and manoeuvrability, as well as improve the structural efficiency. This report aims to present a review of the advances on the research frontier on morphing and adaptive aircraft structures for both fixed and rotary wings and address the issues and challenges.
