报告内容摘要：

Although the effects of surface curvature discontinuities are widely researched in turbomachinery design, research attentions have not been paid to external aerodynamic applications until recent years. Curvature distribution is a relatively new topic in external aerofoil design, especially considering its potential effects on the behaviour of the surface boundary layer, leading to improved aerodynamic and acoustic performance. In this seminar, the effects of surface curvature and slope-of-curvature discontinuities on the aerodynamic and aeroacoustic performance of aerofoils will be presented using the cutting-edge research. The impacts on laminar separation bubbles and unsteady flow separations will be presented and discussed, to reflect the performance improvement at low Reynolds numbers.

报告人简介：

Dr Shaun Shen is a Senior Lecturer of applied aerodynamics in Northumbria University, UK, with expertise in aerodynamic design, flow control methodology, wing and aerofoil optimisation, experimental fluid dynamics testing and multidisciplinary optimisation. Dr Shen received the PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from Queen Mary University of London in the UK and conducted his research at different universities and institutes in China, Japan, and the UK. Dr Shen has led or participated in more than ten aerodynamics-related research projects, including the EPSRC project UK Turbulence Consortium, the Royal Society project “Aeroacoustics of jets and blades”, etc. He is also a member of Engineering Professors Council (EPC) in the UK and the invited reviewer for academic journals including Physics of Fluids, Flow Measurement and Instrumentation, the Aeronautical Journal, etc.
